Initial Ideas

To create and develop our ideas we began writing them down on flip chart paper. This is a technique used by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg for their film 'Hot Fuzz' which features on the DVD extras. Below are a couple of pictures of the flip chart they made, which inspired us to make ours.

Creating an idea for our trailer from scratch was challenging. We didn't know where to start looking for one. David Lynch said ‘At the beginning of every film, there is an idea. It may come at any time, from any source.’ We decided to write down past experiences, and try to create story lines from them. We managed to think of two past experiences, and develop ideas from them. This is shown in the Image of our flip chart below.

Initial ideas

The picture below is a development of the second past experience shown in the above picture. The idea stemmed from a past experience one of our group members had, which was a possible sighting of a ghost looking just like herself, standing over her sister. We developed and changed this experience so that we could make an initial equilibrium and a disruption, and make it into a proper story line. We now have our idea for our trailer, including the equilibrium, the disruption, and the ending.

Developed idea

Below shows developments of the main characters, the antagonist and the protagonist. We wrote this out so that we could create more of a character rather than just an idea.
